A letter from Chloe

Chloe completed her studies at THE KEEP in 2013, and is now studying in Cape Town. The following is a letter from her:

I thought I would let you know how I'm doing. College has turned out to be completely different to what I ever could have imagined or expected. Firstly, it is sooooo difficult; it's not for dumb people like everyone thinks. Secondly it's a lot of work but I'm having so much fun! And lastly I am doing very well. We have 13 subjects that we are doing, some we haven't started yet. My best subject and also my favourite theory subject is anatomy.  For my 1st term exam I got 96% (I shared that mark with two other girls and we are the tops amongst  the first years) Everything else is fantastic too. My favourite practical subject is waxing which I'm also tops in. I won an award last term  - the  1st place practical award for first years. And I came  close to getting the theory award but there's a girl who just left the college who won it last term so now that's my goal to get it.

I have made lots of friends but not  close friends. I haven't clicked with anyone. I'm very quiet in class and usually somewhere in the back ground never causing trouble,  and yes,  that must be hard to believe😝😂  haha. Unfortunately most of these girls are so stuck up and ungrateful that I just don't have time for them.

My dad said something to me that's true; "I'm here to study, not to get involved and deal with rubbish or fit in" I'm pretty good at that and my marks are showing that. I never get below 60%. The most difficult subjects (3 of them) I’ve received below 60, then two 70%'s and the rest are 80's and 90's.  I'm very proud of myself and love what I'm doing.

When I said I wanted to be a beauty therapist in the past, I was wrong. That is actually, I figured out yesterday, an insult. The work I'm doing is so much more advanced. I’m actually a health and beauty therapist. The course is sort of a mix between  somatology,  dermatology and  nutrition -  with extras added in.  It's super fun.

Living on my own started terribly but is now so amazing. I live quite far from my college and take public transport (train) everyday, but it's a very beautiful and peaceful place. I live in a little single room flat in ***** near *****. I do really miss my father, brother and sister very terribly - some days so badly I get very depressed, but I am fine. I guess it's because I have come to be so close to each of them and I see them when I can. I miss Nathy most because I worry so much about him. But I know we all went through that terrible age stage so I just pray for him and everyone.

I hope everything at school is going well and that the kids aren't driving you too mad.

 All my love🌸

WE WISH CHLOE AND ALL OUR "OLD " STUDENTS ALL THE VERY BEST. PLEASE DO KEEP IN TOUCH.
